father of the bride

Much advice has been written for the bride on her wedding day, but little is written about the effects of a wedding on the father of the bride. After all, the father of the bridebride's father usually pays for the wedding, has little say about what he is paying for, and has to willingly give his little girl away to someone else. The internal effects must be very similar to those experienced by Steve Martin in the movie "Father of the Bride" - HELP!

A lot of fathers pretend not to be interested or involved with the wedding, but most really want to know more than they lead you to believe.  Special touches will make him feel very important.

Make Him Feel Handsome

Remember what color looks best on him when choosing tuxedos and tuxedo accessories.

Satisfy His Stomach

Be sure his favorite foods are on the menu for your reception or wedding dinner.

Satisfy His Thirst

Be sure the reception has a well-stocked bar with his preferred libation readily available.

Thank Him

Give a toast to your father at the rehearsal dinner, thanking him for his generosity.

Spend Some Time With Him

Take the time during your wedding day to share a few private and loving words with your dad.

Ride With Him

An ideal time for one-on-one time with dad is during your ride together to the wedding ceremony

Dance With Him

Don't forget to reserve a father-daughter dance early into your wedding reception schedule.
