The wedding rehearsal is typically held the night before the wedding and the dinner is generally scheduled immediately after the rehearsal. The wedding party is treated to a private celebration, generally hosted by the parents of the groom. If appropriate, a close relative or friend may also host the dinner if the groom's parents are unable.
The formality of your wedding rehearsal is entirely up to you, but its main functions are (1) to iron out any potential kinks in the ceremony and (2) to give the wedding party and immediate family members an opportunity to get to know one another before the wedding.
It's important to make your guests as comfortable as possible, and it's the perfect time to give your attendants their gifts if you have not done so already.
Wedding Rehearsal Locations
Rehearsal dinner locations can range from your favorite restaurant to a picnic and barbeque at a local park. The dinner is a joyous event shared with those nearest and dearest to you, so choose the setting with care.
If you have not already done so, the rehearsal dinner is the time to present your attendant gifts. You can create lasting memories of the occasion by having your photographer on hand to take random snapshots while they open their gifts, and after your meal while you enjoy cocktails and dancing.
