Here are some great money-saving tips and tricks to help keep your wedding reception on budget:
- Reserve your venue early so you can guarantee a cap on the price per person.
- Get married in the morning, on a Friday or Sunday, or in the winter, to aviod peak wedding season and possibly secure lower costs.
- Opt for a community center or church for you reception, rather than a traditional baquet hall.
- When considering your bar options, choose a cash bar instead of an open bar.
- Buy your own alcohol.
- Keep the guest list small, and there will be less mouths to feed.
- Opt for a cocktail or dessert reception instead of a full meal or banquet.
- Limit the number of hors d'oeuvres. Opt for three to four self-serve hors d'oeuvres stations, rather than passed appetizers.
- Try to not choose beef tenderloin of seafood for entrees and your price margins will stay down.
- Ask the reception venue about guaranteed numbers. You may have to pay for 150 settings, when only 110 actually show up.
