Engagement Announcements
Engagement
announcements are worded almost like a wedding invitation, however they
are used to announce your engagement to the public. The announcements
are traditionally sent by the bride’s parents or by another close
family member. If you do not have anyone to send them for you, you may
also announce your engagement yourselves.
Announcements
may be mailed during anytime before the wedding to friends and family
and/or published in your local newspaper.
Bride’s
Parents:
Mr.
and Ms. John Doe of Denver, Colorado announce the engagement of their
daughter, Jennifer Michelle, to Michael Smith, son of David and Donna
Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ms. Doe, a graduate of Princeton Law School,
is an attorney at whatever law firm in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Smith
graduated from Yale University and works in another law firm, in
Chicago, Illinois. A June wedding is planned.

sponsoring the wedding yourselves:
Jennifer
Doe, an attorney at whatever law firm, is to be married to Michael
Smith, a lawyer in another law firm in Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Doe is the
daughter of John and Jane Doe of Denver, Colorado. Mr. Smith is the son
of David and Donna Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma. A June wedding is planned.

Ms.
Jessica Doe announces the engagement of her sister, Jennifer Doe, to
Michael Smith, who is the son of....
Wedding Announcements
Wedding
announcements are worded almost like an invitation, only they are used
to announce that you have already been married. These are sent out
immediately after the wedding, or the night before, to family, friends,
and/or co-workers that were not invited to the ceremony or unable to
show. You don’t have to send announcements, however this is a great
way to let them know of your name change, and the location of where you
both now reside (assuming you moved). It’s also a more formal way to
announce your special day other
than listing it in a newspaper.
